Who We Are  |  Elders

Ivor & Jakki Lewis - Lead Elder

Ivor and Jakki met at the University of Victoria in 1968. Shortly after graduation, they married and set out on a two year backpacking trip around the world. In 1974, during the Australian portion of their journey, they accepted Jesus Christ as their Lord and Saviour.

Later that year they returned to Victoria and started attending Trinity Christian Centre where they functioned in various capacities for eleven years, and coming onto eldership in 1980.

In 1985 the Lord uprooted Ivor and Jakki and planted them in South Africa to serve as missionaries. They diligently served in South Africa for ten years, but in 1995 the Lord called them back to Victoria to lead Trinity, where Ivor continues to serve as lead elder. Ivor and Jakki joined the apostolic team of NCMI in 2006, and are privileged to impart God's heart for the New Testament church, both nationally and internationally.

Gerry & Debbie Esselink

Gerry and Debbie were married in 1987 and joined the Trinity Christian Centre family in 1995. Both raised in Christian households, they are no strangers to church ministry. Upon their arrival at Trinity, they immediately immersed themselves in church life and got involved in several ministries, including children and youth.

In 2001, Gerry was appointed an elder. In the spring of 2003, the Lord called Gerry out of his career in the tourism industry and into full-time ministry at Trinity, where his pastor's heart for the people is so clearly evident.

Edward and Rebekah Gin

Edward and Rebekah have been part of the Trinity family since 2003, and after serving together in Kairos Kids, College & Careers, and the Alpha program, fell in love and were married in February 2007. Partnered with an awesome team of teachers, they now oversight the Children's ministry. Edward and Rebekah share a vision with the leadership team to see Trinity's children equipped to serve in God's expanding kingdom. Edward works as a systems analyst for a natural resource consulting company, and Rebekah provides rehabilitation to individuals who have sustained brain injuries.

Graham & June Hunter

Graham and June emigrated from Britain in 1972, and have lived in Victoria ever since, working as high school teachers. However, their lives were radically transformed at Trinity Christian Centre in 1998, when God miraculously healed June of terminal cancer. From that time on, they have devoted themselves to the Lord and the Trinity family, becoming elders in 2004. Now retired from teaching, Graham uses his administration skills in that area of church life and together they currently lead a Bible study small group which meets each week. They are both looking forward to exciting times ahead at Trinity!

JT & Heather Brown

JT and Heather met at Trinity in 2002. After competing together on the volleyball court during their first date, it was evident that there was "love at first spike." They were married in 2004 and have been contending together for Christ's kingdom ever since. Their musical gifts enable them both to serve in the worship team and they also coach and play on the Trinity Lions' slow-pitch team. JT spends his days as a financial advisor and Heather has taken leave from teaching to raise their young children. They are blessed to be a part of God's plan for the nations here at Trinity Christian Centre.

Vince & Fern Smythe

Fern was born into the Trinity family in 1977, while Vince joined in 1999. Married since 2000, they have single-handedly multiplied their home group with a succession of four children. A talented musician and worship leader, Vince has been Trinity's worship leader since 2002. Together, they have mentored worship leaders, encouraging them to write new songs of praise to the Lord. Selah.
